About the Young family

The Young family begins many years ago and believed to have arrived as Palatines to Ireland (yet to be confirmed). They settled in Graigue Carlow and eventually moved to Slyguff Co. Carlow and then to Ballinkillen (Lorum) Co. Carlow just a few short miles from Slyguff. The family begins with James Thomas Young and Emily Lucy Neale who had twelve children. In 2001 the first Young family reunion was held in Co. Carlow and was attended by over 90 members of the family. Many happy events have taken place since including milestone birthday parties and the expansion of the 4th generation. The second reunion was held in 2008 and has been followed by more birthdays and weddings. However, with all families we experience the sad loss of loved ones and 2008/2009 is no exception, with the passing of dearest Florrie Browne and our loved John Richard Young.
